At our laboratory, we specialize in researching the regulation of body weight and metabolism after bariatric surgery in rodents. Our focus is specifically on two types of surgery: Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) and sleeve gastrectomy (SG). We have developed a highly reproducible model of RYGB and SG in mice that accurately mimics the effects of these surgeries on human subjects, including changes in body weight, body composition, fecal calories, glucose homeostasis, and lipid metabolism. By applying this surgical technique to genetic mouse models, we aim to uncover the molecular mechanisms behind these bariatric surgeries.
